About the position
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the electrical construction design of mission-critical systems, including data centers and commercial power distribution systems. This role involves working as part of an estimate/design team for rapid design-build projects, ensuring effective coordination with architects, project managers, and contractors during the build phase to meet project requirements and adapt to design changes.
Responsibilities
- Electrical equipment specification review
- Power distribution system design and layout
- Conduit layout or Revit modeling
- Review construction drawings prior to job starts
- Electrical service and equipment load calculations
- Arc flash and breaker coordination analysis
- Coordination with other trade contractors to develop electrical service and equipment requirements
- Development of necessary documents for construction and service connection permits
- Stamp and seal electrical design documents as required for construction permits
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- At least five years of related experience in electrical design of mission-critical systems
- Strong communication skills both orally and in writing
- Strong attention to detail and safety
- Ability to represent the company with professionalism and integrity
- Registration as a Professional Engineer, preferably in Iowa or Illinois
- Thorough knowledge of NEC as applied to commercial electrical design
- Experience with AutoDesk, AutoCAD, and Revit for development of electrical construction plans
- Ability to perform load calculations
- Experience with SKM Power Tools, coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis
