About the position

The Camera Hardware Engineer will be part of Apple's Camera Technologies group, responsible for designing and developing innovative camera hardware for Apple products. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create exceptional camera experiences, ensuring that each generation of Apple products delivers outstanding photography capabilities. The engineer will focus on component-level requirements, schematic designs, and the overall performance of camera modules, contributing to the advancement of camera technology at Apple.

Responsibilities

  • Determine component level requirements and develop schematic designs for innovative camera module components.
  • Analyze circuit parasitics and tolerances to ensure correct operation over specified voltage and temperature ranges.
  • Supervise layout for PCB, Flex, and substrates.
  • Address challenges relating to power quality, high-speed signal integrity, and control interface.
  • Author clear and comprehensive electrical documentation for design and manufacturing partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to simulate, test, and validate performance of all designs.
  • Develop electronic prototypes for new camera features and product concepts.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Experience in analog and digital circuit design including schematic capture and supervising layout for substrates, rigid PCB, or Flex.
  • Knowledge of signal and power integrity, including high-speed design and PDN analysis.
  • System integration knowledge for grounding, shielding, EMI, EMC, and ESD.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of layout strategies for substrates, rigid PCB, Flex, or rigid-flex including material selection and noise suppression.
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces such as MIPI, DisplayPort, HDMI, PCIE, and control interfaces like I2C, SPI, SPMI, UART.
  • Hands-on lab experience with hardware bring-up and debug.
  • Experience with high volume consumer electronics design for manufacturing, testing, and reliability (DFM, DFT, DFR).
  • Knowledge of CMOS image sensor, ISP, or image processing.
  • Statistical data analysis and visualization skills (e.g., JMP).
