About the position

The Electrical Engineer Intern position at Southwire Company, LLC is designed for early career professionals to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical work experience. Interns will engage in real-world applications of their studies, receive mentorship, and have opportunities for full-time employment after graduation. The role includes a variety of responsibilities and projects related to electrical engineering, providing a comprehensive developmental experience.

Responsibilities

• Work on growth capital projects and new machinery
• Training and SOP's
• Troubleshooting and repair on machine issues
• Hands-on application on PLC's and Drives
• Use strategic thinking to approach problems and create solutions
• Review processes and materials used in production to ensure BOMs are correct
• Assist with time studies on the production floor
• Make recommendations to management regarding manufacturing improvements based on data collected on production floor
• Document and make changes to drawings with the support of engineers
• Communicate findings and project status clearly and professionally through presentations
• Provide comprehensive report out to leadership on assignments and other related projects

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Excellent analytical skills, both verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented
• Experience with software programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, AutoCad, SolidWorks, etc.)
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Team-oriented and creative
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
