About the position

RADAR is seeking a high-energy individual who thrives in a small business environment within the high-tech industry. The Senior Electrical Engineer will serve as the lead Project Engineer responsible for developing the Sensor hardware design, incorporating an embedded CPU, FPGA, Ethernet, and RFID radio and antenna. The role requires close collaboration with the RF, antenna, and mechanical teams, as well as ownership of the detailed electrical design. Candidates must be comfortable with general radio concepts, understanding how radios interface with digital hardware, and conducting engineering testing and Design Verification Testing. Successful candidates must be self-directed, capable of handling multiple tasks of varying complexity with minimal supervision, and completing them in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Overall Project Engineer for new hardware designs, providing technical management of RF, antenna, mechanical, analog, and digital components.
  • Hands-on analog and digital design, including circuit definition, component selection, design, simulation, testing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Schematic capture and oversight of layout, prototyping, and initial board bring-up.
  • Collaboration with RF engineering on radio bring-up.
  • Management of Hardware Design Verification Testing (DVT), including hands-on testing and guiding test engineers.
  • Introduction of appropriate hardware development processes.
  • Guidance of products through regulatory testing at external labs.
  • Collaboration with Operations to develop a manufacturing test plan.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's preferred) in Electrical Engineering or another relevant field.
  • 2+ years of experience in relevant roles.
  • Demonstrated successful design and implementation of mixed-signal boards into high-volume production.
  • Experience in analog and digital circuit design.
  • Experience with wireless networking.
  • Experience with schematic capture (e.g., Orcad) and PCB layout tools (e.g., Allegro, PADS).
  • Experience with circuit analysis and layout tools.
  • Knowledge of embedded processor design and in-circuit emulation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and analyze complex issues and collaborate across cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills that involve influencing multiple functional groups.
  • Proponent of a methodical design process.
  • Strong bench evaluation and in-lab debugging skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
