About the position

The Electrical Engineer, EPS Design & Commissioning, will be a part of our Electrical Power Systems (EPS) team and will focus on design. They will work with other engineers and drafters to support our hydroelectric field projects.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and design conduit and cable routes.
  • Develop detailed electrical schematics and layouts.
  • Modify and revise designs.
  • Conduct electrical tests for Current Transformers (CTs) and Potential Transformers (PTs).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Select appropriate electrical equipment such as Motor Control Centers (MCCs), breakers, and other components.
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Select instruments such as RTDs, pressure/level transducers, thermal relays, and others.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects within budget and scope.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical design and engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant field such as hydropower or another power generation field using large rotating equipment (oil & gas, wind, etc).
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in using design software such as Electrical AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar tools.
  • Able to read and interpret basic electrical and hydraulic schematic.
  • Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NEMA, NETA, and other industry codes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Analytical skills to assess and optimize electrical systems.
  • Ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Delegate and direct work to drafters as required.
  • Adaptable and proactive team player with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
