About the position

The Electrical Field Service Engineer position offers a unique opportunity to work primarily in the field while also enjoying the comforts of working from home in the evenings. This role is centered around providing engineering and technical support for the maintenance, construction, testing, and commissioning of substation equipment within a specific region of the Northeastern U.S. The client, a stable entity in the industry, is open to candidates from various backgrounds, provided they possess transferable skills. Responsibilities

  • Maintenance projects and commissioning upgrades to existing substations
  • Provide onsite engineering support to substation services employees during preventative and corrective maintenance activities
  • Identify and resolve technical problems during installation, commissioning and start-up
  • Assist in developing new or modifying existing maintenance practices
  • Troubleshooting electrical equipment failures and P&C relay faults and documenting findings
  • Visual verification of testing, reviewing test reports
  • Oversee the safe isolation of equipment for minimal operating disruption during repairs or upgrades
  • Responsible for multiple projects within a region

Requirements

  • ABET accredited BSEE or BSME degree preferred (will consider a BS Degree in other related disciplines)
  • Approximately 3 or more years experience ideally in the specification, maintenance or commissioning of MV or HV equipment or in industrial controls and automation or a combination of these areas
  • Experience working with power delivery equipment in the utility, heavy industrial or a similar field such as hydraulics, pneumatics, controls etc.
  • Knowledge of P&C schemes - experience with industrial PLC programming is relevant
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
