About the position

The Electrical Power Systems Test Engineer II role at Blue Origin is focused on developing and executing test plans for high and low voltage flight hardware as part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of space exploration systems, contributing to the mission of enabling sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo to the Lunar surface. The engineer will work within a diverse team, emphasizing collaboration and safety, to support the integration and testing of advanced electronic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans, procedures, and scripts for shock, vibration, thermal, humidity, and vacuum testing on flight hardware.
  • Conduct verification testing including power-on, functional, acceptance, and qualification tests, documenting results for power regulation and conversion hardware.
  • Support the integration of vehicle hardware and analysis tooling to verify performance requirements.
  • Debug and troubleshoot hardware and software issues in a lab environment.
  • Assist in wiring, hardware installation, and test bench setup for integration and test activities.
  • Provide feedback on integration and testability during design and system reviews throughout the project phases.
  • Participate in technology development, mission assurance, safety initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management.

Requirements

  • B.S. in electrical engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in electronics hardware development.
  • Understanding of testing high voltage switching and power regulation.
  • Experience with analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuit design, including analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and board layout principles.
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting electronic test equipment.
  • Proficient in standard electronic lab tests and troubleshooting equipment.
  • Experience with programming in C++ and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with NI Lab/TestStand.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. degree in electrical engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in avionics verification for autonomous spaceflight systems.
  • Experience supporting testbeds for spaceflight systems.
  • Familiarity with electrical design and analysis tools such as LTSpice, PSpice, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, Simscape.
