About the position

The Electrical Engineering Intern position at Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems offers a hands-on, technical experience for undergraduate students during the summer of 2025. Interns will work closely with engineering staff on various assignments and projects, gaining real-world experience in an engineering development environment. The program lasts at least 10 weeks and includes opportunities in multiple engineering disciplines, with mentorship provided for career development.

Responsibilities

• Carry out basic work instructions to understand the fundamentals of the company.
• Conduct limited scope testing under the supervision of engineers.
• Complete assigned tasks on time.
• Gather and assemble data for engineers.
• Assist in research in a particular field as required.
• Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers.
• Perform a variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs, and practices.

Requirements

• Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, progressing towards an undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Grade point average of 3.0 or above.
• Diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn.
• Basic engineering tool knowledge relevant to the discipline.
• Preferably entering the junior or senior year of study.
• Knowledge of 3-phase power systems, power electronics, control systems, switchgear, motors, mg sets, electronics packaging, and energy conversion is a plus.
• Must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance.
