About the position

The Electrician position at HKA Enterprises, supporting Jacobs, involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems in a manufacturing facility. The role requires a strong understanding of electrical components and systems, as well as the ability to read blueprints and specifications. The Electrician will work primarily on the second shift and is expected to perform preventative maintenance and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand system blueprints, specifications, and performance data to determine configuration and purpose of system components.
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment.
  • Connect power supply wires to machines and building equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires, cables, and fuses.
  • Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components.
  • Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, sensors, and motors.
  • Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
  • Complete accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks on electrical and mechanical equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Successfully completed Electrical Apprenticeship Program or graduate of a certified technical school and achieved Journeyman status.
  • 5 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 7 years related experience in a manufacturing facility, not residential.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
  • Trained on NFPA 70E, Aerial Lift / Boom lift Certified.
  • Training in motor and motor controls, variable frequency drives, and PLC / BMS controls.
  • Ability to read complex wiring diagrams and identify electrical components.
  • Extensive knowledge in troubleshooting of control circuits.
  • Well versed in the use of voltmeters, amp meters, ohm meters, meggers, and amp-probes.
  • Familiarity with guidelines from the National Electrical Code, local codes, safety regulations, and EMCOR standard practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with industrial HVAC systems and switch gear.
