About the position

Oregon Corrections Enterprises (OCE) is seeking a General Supervising Electrician to work at the Oregon State Penitentiary (OSP) located in Salem, Oregon. This position requires in-person attendance and the candidate must possess a General Supervising Electrician License. The primary responsibility of the Electrician will be to provide electrical consultation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance for OCE shops located inside OSP. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Project Manager and will be skilled in identifying, diagnosing, isolating, testing, and managing the repair and maintenance of equipment. The Electrician will coordinate work and inspections with the Department of Corrections (DOC) supervising electrician at each DOC institution as required. They will also consult with OCE General and Production Managers on all equipment installation projects and establish preventative maintenance schedules for each OCE shop. The ability to work as part of a team or independently is essential, as duties and responsibilities may vary. Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical consultation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance for OCE shops located inside OSP.
  • Coordinate work and inspections with the DOC supervising electrician at each DOC institution as required.
  • Consult with OCE General and Production Managers on all equipment installation projects.
  • Establish preventative maintenance schedules for each OCE shop.
  • Monitor and inspect equipment for system defects.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions on various types of equipment and complex electrical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance while utilizing computer systems and programs to document maintenance and safety activities.
  • Conduct inspections to assess the quality and safety of electrical work.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including drawings, specifications, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Read, write, and understand electrical schematics, equipment drawings, and blueprints.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Manage tool libraries and provide customer service.
  • Serve as a role model and ensure safe work behavior and practices by staff and assigned AIC workers.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current and valid General Supervising Electrical License.
  • Must have a current/valid driver's license issued by the state of residence.
  • Pass an initial and annual Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) criminal background check.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Experience as a Project Manager is preferred.
  • Electrical experience preferably in a production or manufacturing setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing.
  • Experience in process improvement, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
