About the position

Westlake Pipe & Fittings is seeking a Lead Electromechanical Technician to join our team. This position is crucial for maintaining and enhancing our manufacturing capabilities through effective management of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and other electrical systems. The Lead Electromechanical Technician will be responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of PLCs across all manufacturing equipment. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining all plant electrical systems, including equipment electronics, motors, drives, and other power transmission systems. The technician will also oversee mechanical and electrical tasks as assigned, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Lead Electromechanical Technician will direct and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in the repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, as well as the maintenance of buildings and grounds. This position is not only about technical skills but also about leadership, as the technician will assume the Supervisor role in the absence of the regular Supervisor. Responsibilities

  • Perform facility Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) work on all manufacturing equipment.
  • Install, program, troubleshoot, and repair PLCs.
  • Proactively maintain all plant electrical systems, equipment electronics, motors, drives, and other power transmission systems.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Write advanced A/B PLC logic programs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC circuits.
  • Design and assemble control circuits and cabinets with user interface.
  • Analyze current machinery for PLC automation implementation.
  • Troubleshoot, program, and specify motor drives.
  • Maintain and service plant switchgear.
  • Maintain a running log on barrel and screw inventory, changes, history, and throughput.
  • Perform all manufacturing plant electrical and electronic diagnostics repair and installation, consistent with plant electricians.
  • Assist in the training of new Maintenance Techs A, B, C and Electromechanical Techs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent training (i.e. Fundamentals of PLC's, Programming Controllers, Troubleshooting and Repair of PLC's).
  • Three (3) plus years of practical electronics experience.
  • Ability to perform all mechanical and electrical duties required.
  • Skill in writing advanced A/B PLC logic programs.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing PLC circuits.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in designing and assembling control circuits and cabinets with user interface.
  • Familiarity with analyzing machinery for PLC automation implementation.
