About the position

SimTech, Inc. is seeking an Electronic Hardware Technician to join our dynamic team in Huntsville, AL. This position is crucial for our operations, as it involves performing highly skilled hand soldering, reading technical drawings, and fabricating cables and breakout boxes according to specifications. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, producing high-quality prototypes while ensuring all equipment is maintained through preventative maintenance. The role also requires the ability to compose procedures for various operations and provide electronic testing support as needed. Some travel may be required, and the technician will be expected to perform other duties as assigned. The Electronic Hardware Technician will work in a general office/cubicle setting as well as in a laboratory/testing environment. This includes using standard office equipment and various electronic testing equipment. The technician will interact with various personnel, participate in meetings, and contribute to team success. The role may require the use of protective equipment (PPE) and the ability to move and test equipment of various weights. The technician may also be expected to work varying shifts and hours to meet business demands, including occasional travel for assigned work.

Responsibilities

  • Perform highly skilled hand soldering, read technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Fabrication of cables and breakout boxes specific to technical drawing.
  • Use of hand power tools for fabrication of breakout boxes.
  • Produce high quality prototypes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on various types of equipment and maintain all records.
  • Ability to compose procedures for various operations.
  • Provide various electronic testing support as needed.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Technical career training in related field or discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Related IPC certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-year experience in cable harness assembly and repair.
  • Must be able to work from schematics, diagrams, written/verbal descriptions or from defined plans.
  • Demonstrative skills assessment required, including hands-on soldering of connectors and cable assembly.
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision; dynamic and highly motivated individual with strong technical and communication skills.
  • Ability to move up to 50 pounds.
  • U.S. Citizenship with Active Secret Security clearance preferred.
