The Elementary Special Education Teacher is a state certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities. This role requires the teacher to provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process, focusing on each student's individual needs as defined by their Individualized Education Program (IEP). The teacher will actively engage with students and parents to enhance learning outcomes and ensure compliance with all necessary documentation required for serving students with special needs. In this position, the teacher will ensure that all special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team. This includes communicating with parents and related service staff to guarantee that students receive appropriate therapies, developing compliant IEPs, progress reports, and other state-specific documentation. The teacher will facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, such as annual IEP meetings, and utilize provided resources to ensure accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities, including assistive technology and accessible text. The role also involves making necessary modifications to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP, ensuring the inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom. The teacher will collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals, document all interactions with parents and interventions with students, and analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment as needed. Additionally, the teacher will provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences, maintain a grade book, prepare students for standardized tests, and establish positive rapport with families, ensuring timely communication and support for learning coaches and parents. This full-time position requires the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, and maintain a professional home office environment. The teacher must also be willing to travel up to 20% of the time for professional development and student testing as required by the school.
