The ED Technician at Banner Boswell Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing patient care and assisting healthcare providers in emergency situations. This position involves performing various medical procedures under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians, ensuring effective communication and updates regarding patient conditions. The role requires strong multitasking abilities and thrives in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall goal of enhancing patient care in the emergency department.
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned procedures including electrocardiogram testing (EKG), wound cleansing, and vital sign measurements under the supervision of healthcare providers.
- Assist with patient exams and minor surgical procedures, including lumbar punctures and suturing lacerations, within the scope of training.
- Conduct specimen collection and ensure accuracy in identification and integrity using appropriate techniques.
- Provide communication and updates to healthcare providers regarding changes in patients' conditions and document vital signs and procedures accurately.
- Monitor supply stock levels and report needs to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
- Attend department meetings and assist in training new ED Technicians.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) or higher with state licensure or state certification, or Certified Nursing Assistant in state of practice is required for new hires and transfers.
- Basic computer skills and effective communication skills are necessary.
