About the position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center - Opening in 2025! When open in early 2025, Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health will be the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years! This teaching hospital will integrate clinical care with existing providers, The George Washington University Hospital, and the Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This clinical integration will establish a robust system of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital will include 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics, a community space, a 500-car garage and a helipad for emergency transports. We are seeking an experienced Emergency Technician (Full Time-Evenings). Our ideal candidate will provide care to assigned patients, according to the established plan of care. provide specified care to patients with a wide range of injuries and illnesses. The Emergency Technician will meet the needs of patients and help put diagnostic and treatment plans into action. The Emergency Technician will operate under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor/Team Leader and/or Emergency Department Providers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care to assigned patients according to the established plan of care.
  • Provide specified care to patients with a wide range of injuries and illnesses.
  • Meet the needs of patients and help put diagnostic and treatment plans into action.
  • Operate under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor/Team Leader and/or Emergency Department Providers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a state-approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course that meets or exceeds the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for the Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
  • Successful completion of the cognitive and psycho-motor exam for the National Registry of EMTs at a Basic, Intermediate, or Paramedic level.
  • 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience as an emergency room technician or at least one year of experience as a primary EMS field provider or military equivalent.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Verbal de-escalation within 6 months of hire.
