About the position

As an Emerging Store Manager at Walgreens, you will play a pivotal role in supervising customer service associates and designated hitters while managing the front end of the store. Your responsibilities will include making recommendations on the overall operations of both the Pharmacy and Retail Store. You will support the Store Manager in achieving company deliverables and will work an alternate schedule with minimal overlap with the Store Manager. In the absence of the Store Manager, you will assume full responsibility for all store activities, ensuring proper merchandising, protecting store assets, and driving improvements in store sales and profitability. Your role will also focus on enhancing the customer experience. You will engage with customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolving customer complaints promptly and answering questions will be essential to ensure a positive customer experience. You will model and share customer service best practices, monitor customer service metrics, and provide coaching and training to your team to develop plans for improvement. Empowering team members to find impactful resolutions for customers will be a key aspect of your role, as will building customer loyalty through exceptional service. In terms of operations, you will supervise the daily activities of the store and team members, including delegating tasks, managing schedules, and ensuring proper team member coverage. You will collaborate with external partners to enhance the store's operations and identify community outreach opportunities. Your responsibilities will also include supervising cash management, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws. You will be accountable for maintaining a clean and presentable store environment and ensuring that team members are proficient in all necessary technology systems. As part of your leadership role, you will independently analyze financial and performance data to create action plans that support business deliverables. You will work closely with the Store Manager to identify sales opportunities and drive store improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading and training team members, providing mentorship and support for their career development, and managing performance through clear expectations and accountability. You will also complete required training and development programs to enhance your skills and knowledge in the role. Effective communication will be crucial in your position, as you will regularly engage with team members through discussions and meetings to ensure open lines of communication. You will assist the Store Manager in planning and communicating the company's strategy and objectives to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with team members to ensure open communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a solid academic record, all majors welcome OR satisfactorily completed a Walgreens Community Internship Program OR High School Diploma/GED and two years of experience in a supervisory position.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities including professional business ethics, self-motivation, and strong communication skills.
  • Completion of Store Manager training program (LEAP) or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of ESM start date.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to transfer to other Walgreens retail assets located within the same hiring area.
