About the position

The Emissions Testing Engineer at Kinder Morgan is responsible for coordinating and executing emissions testing and analysis to meet regulatory requirements. This role involves data analysis, reporting results, and providing technical expertise in engine air emissions technologies. The position requires significant travel to various sites for testing and meetings, with opportunities for a hybrid work schedule when travel is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute emissions testing and general emissions analysis.
  • Analyze data, reduce it, and report results for regulatory compliance and operational decisions.
  • Travel 50%-75% to contractor or Kinder Morgan sites for emissions testing and meetings, with occasional weekend travel.
  • Lead and assist in state and federally required air emissions testing.
  • Maintain and manage emissions testing trailers.
  • Develop and submit permit-required air emission test protocols and reports.
  • Review air permits and respond to data requests.
  • Specify and procure instrumentation for emissions trailers upgrades.
  • Provide technical expertise in engine air emissions technologies.
  • Organize work for timely completion and be available for overtime if required.
  • Safeguard confidential information using personal judgment and specialized knowledge.
  • Communicate clearly and maintain a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Manage multiple assignments with various deadlines and responsibilities concurrently.
  • Adhere to company and governmental safety regulations.

Requirements

  • A 4-year engineering or science degree from an accredited school or five years of relevant experience in EPA field testing.
  • Proficiency in basic engineering skills.
  • Specific knowledge in natural gas compression engine operation.
  • Knowledge of Wonderware InTouch or other programming languages for unit automation communication.
  • Proficient in basic PC operations, including word-processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams, including P&IDs.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

  • Recent graduate candidates.
  • A minimum of two years practical experience in emissions testing or related fields.
  • Experience with natural gas compression and processing facilities.
  • Knowledge of federal air regulations.
  • Knowledge of natural gas storage facilities and treatment processes.
  • Advanced computer skills.
