About The Position

The EMT Basic position at Acadian Ambulance Service involves providing timely and efficient pre-hospital basic life support care and transportation for sick and injured individuals. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• National and/or State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with others.
• Knowledge of company protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies.
• Ability to drive large vehicles in various conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in emergency medical services or related field.
• Familiarity with electronic communications equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conducts careful examinations of patients for signs and symptoms of illness/injury.
• Administers basic life support care within the limits of licensure or certification.
• Provides safe handling and transport of patients to medical facilities.
• Transfers patient care information to receiving personnel at the destination.
• Documents all aspects of patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
• Conducts regular unit inventory and equipment testing.
• Responsible for the proper use and knowledge of ambulance's basic life support equipment.
• Documents and reports needed repairs to maintenance departments.
• Operates/drives the ambulance safely and efficiently.
• Attends mandatory meetings and completes assigned station duties.
• Orders supplies and equipment to replenish inventories as needed.
• Completes assigned ambulance cleaning duties.
• Precepts EMT-Basic students and new employees as directed.
