About the position

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capability Unit at BAE Systems Inc is seeking a software engineer to join their team focused on satellite ground system software. This role involves working in a fast-paced Agile environment to develop innovative solutions for satellite command and control, mission planning, and data analysis. The position emphasizes collaboration, integrity, and continuous learning within a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop satellite command and control, mission planning, and data analysis software systems.
  • Perform full software life cycle functions including software requirements, architecture, design, code, test, integration, documentation, and support.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and across the company.
  • Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Experience with satellite ground system development focusing on distributed C2, data processing, or mission planning software.
  • Experience with industry-standard ground systems such as COSMOS, ECLIPSE, OS/COMET, or OASIS.
  • Experience delivering high-reliability software in an agile, team-based environment with a solid CI/CD workflow.
  • Experience in cloud development using AWS, Lambda, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in web and REST service development using Spring, Jersey, Flask, CherryPy, or Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience in front-end and UX development using JavaScript, Angular, React, JavaFX, Python, or Qt.
  • Experience in back-end development using SQL and NoSQL databases, and JPA/ORM.
  • Experience in modeling, planning, or scheduling software development in languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
