About the position

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer II to join the R&D Engineering team in Logan, UT. This role is part of the Bioproduction Group, focusing on supporting the development and manufacturing of biological-based therapeutics and vaccines. The position emphasizes driving process and product innovation, collaborating with R&D teams, and leading initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and cost reduction in product development.

Responsibilities

• Drive process and product innovation by adapting existing and novel single-use technologies.
• Support new and existing product development pipeline through collaboration with R&D teams.
• Generate new product ideas and evaluate existing products for feasibility and application into bioprocess workflows.
• Lead activities to improve safety, quality, cost reduction, and product improvement with a multi-functional team.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Similar) with 3 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 1 year of experience.
• Experience in 3D Modeling (SolidWorks Preferred).
• Product Data Management (PDM) experience.
• Laboratory research, testing, and process development experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Software proficiency and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
