About the position

The Engineer in Training (EIT) position in Anchorage, AK, provides engineering and discipline support for various projects. The role involves researching, specifying, developing, designing, and testing components, equipment, and systems. The EIT will work closely with clients to define project scopes, review project drawings, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations while providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Works with clients to develop a project's scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules.
  • Reviews and approves project drawings, standards and specifications.
  • Develops major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws.
  • Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.
  • Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems.
  • Provides technical support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters.
  • Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, and analyzing and solving problems.
  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.
  • Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
  • Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and designs for project.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited institution; current students may be considered for part-time or temporary employment after completing 3 years of an accredited engineering degree program.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and the most recent version of AutoCAD design software.
  • Strong desire to learn in a flexible environment.
