About The Position

The Process Safety Engineer at Eli Lilly and Company will play a crucial role in the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team at the new Lilly Lebanon API facility. This position involves providing technical leadership in the development and implementation of process safety management systems during the construction, startup, and operational phases of the facility. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations and foster a strong safety culture as the site transitions to GMP manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field of study
  • 5+ years of experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Knowledge and experience in process safety, including knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulation
  • Trained in Process Hazard Analysis facilitation, HAZOP, and What-If Methodologies

Nice To Haves

  • CCPSC or PE preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and systematic and structured way of working
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Trained in Layer Of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
  • Knowledge of EPA Risk Management Plan
  • Experience interfacing with HSE-related regulatory agencies

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the process safety management operational readiness plan for the Lilly Lebanon API facility.
  • Provide input and feedback on process safety design decisions, construction, and startup plans as a key stakeholder.
  • Oversee and support process hazard analysis and facility siting studies.
  • Develop and roll out process safety management (PSM) program elements such as employee participation and Management of Change.
  • Provide training, mentoring, and onboarding of new staff to support a strong process safety culture.
  • Oversee operations of pharmaceutical API manufacturing units.
  • Develop partnerships with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering functions to manage change and assure safety and compliance.
  • Ensure application of industry codes and standards during project and management of change reviews.
  • Build technical relationships by interacting with corporate and site process safety colleagues.
