The Engineer - Supplier Quality/Development III position is responsible for managing the selection, development, qualification, and monitoring of suppliers to ensure they provide products and services that meet all First Solar requirements. This role requires a strong background in quality systems processes, including ISO Quality Systems and the use of Advanced Quality Planning tools. Candidates with an Associate's Degree in a technical discipline should have 14 years of relevant work experience, while those with a Bachelor's degree need a minimum of 8 years, and those with a Master's or PhD should have at least 5 years of relevant experience. ASQ Certifications such as CMQ/OE, CMBB, CQA, CQE, and CQI are preferred, along with Third Party Certification as an ISO Internal Auditor. The position demands excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills. A passion for root cause investigation and the ability to communicate performance metrics and continuous improvement expectations to the supply base are essential. Candidates should demonstrate advanced proficiency with Advanced Quality Planning tools such as FMEA, Control Plan, Process Mapping, Gage Studies, and SPC, as well as Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, and Lean Manufacturing principles. The ability to lead cross-functional project teams and mentor peers is also crucial. Essential responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams to execute the Advance Supplier Readiness process for assigned commodities, developing inspection methods, communicating qualification inspection plans, applying advanced quality planning tools, and driving supplier development and continuous improvement. The role requires independent action to identify root causes of non-conformances and ensure proper corrective actions are implemented. Regular supplier audits and business reviews are part of the responsibilities, along with facilitating training sessions in quality tools and supporting the development of performance metrics to drive department improvement. Candidates should be prepared to challenge conventional wisdom and stimulate management thinking by proposing innovative methodologies.
