About the position

The Engineer VIII assists the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) Project Office (PO) and PEO AVN Enterprise, which is essential for performance of the materiel developer's mission to support the war fighter. The UAS PO is tasked with developing, testing, fielding and maintaining the UAS Fleet to include a family of Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (SUAS), Future Tactical Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (FTUAS), Gray Eagle, One System Remote Video Terminal (OSRVT), Launched Effects (LE), and Uncrewed Vehicle Control (UVC).

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with key stakeholders, support Digital Enterprise product data and Digital Thread framework management.
  • Provide review and verification in the receipt of Logistics Product Data and the Digital System Model.
  • Identify all applicable tasks of Logistics Support Analysis in military standards and other specifications.
  • Maintain coordination with logistics stakeholders in support of technical data requirements, products, and processes.
  • Participate in validation and verification of assigned technical publications for the UAS system.
  • Participate in technical publication validation and verification, design reviews, logistics demonstration, and test efforts.
  • Identify, plan, resource, and implement cohesive integrated strategies to train the Warfighter to operate and maintain UAS throughout the lifecycle.
  • Identify, plan, resource, and develop the documentation required to acquire Training Aides Devices Simulators and Simulations (TADSS).
  • Provide support in sustaining TADSS at the lowest total ownership cost throughout the UAS lifecycle.
  • Analyze, assess, and provide recommendations to the Government for training and training support related activities including but not limited to corrective action plans for identified deficiencies and identification, coordination, and readiness of training and training support requirements.
  • Analyze and assess impacts to training and training support as provided in training and logistics related documentation, draft training plans and reports, and validation of technology based computer based multimedia training materials including but not limited to Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) and Virtual Immersive Environment.
  • Develop, implement and maintain current UAS operator and maintainer courseware, IMI courseware reviews, training presentations, and program progress and management reviews.
  • Collect, analyze, and assess operator and maintainer data; and provide recommendations to the Government to improve training and training support products across the UAS portfolio.
  • Analyze, assess, and provide recommendations to the Government for development, design, and distribution of IMI and other courseware directly to the Warfighter via internet capable media.
  • Analyze, assess, and provide recommendations to the Government for training and TADSS contract proposals.
  • Provide support in the management of design, development, production, and modification of TADSS equipment.
  • Analyze, assess, and provide recommendations to the Government for the execution of Government acceptance testing (new and modified), fielding, equipment redistribution, New Equipment Training (NET), and Differences Training (DT) for TADSS.
  • Provide contractor support personnel with demonstrated comparable experience and knowledge as subject matter experts appropriate to senior UAS operators and maintainers, for the execution of NET IAW the NET Program of Instruction (POI), modifications to the UAS fleet, and Warfighter.
  • Participate in training and training support efforts, including but not limited to Integrated Product Teams (IPT), design reviews, program progress reviews, technical reviews, and trainer requirements review.
  • Provide information and recommendations to the Government.
  • Participate in quality assurance inspections, including physical and functional configuration audits prior Government acceptance and delivery of training and training related contract deliverables.
  • Maintain an action item record tracking system to track discrepancies found during Government acceptance testing.
  • Provide technical and engineering support for the design, development, evaluation, analysis, documentation, production, and sustainment of UAS systems, including associated supporting systems.
  • Provide engineering services in the area of cyber security and information assurance.
  • Provide engineering services in the area of aircraft survivability.
  • Provide engineering services in the area of mission systems architecture.
  • Participate in engineering related efforts including, but not limited to engineering reviews; design reviews; and provide recommendations to the Government.
  • Perform engineering and logistics investigations and analyses to develop and influence required design changes necessary to resolve operational issues.
  • Provide support by identifying, planning, and resourcing necessary for planning and management of mission critical computer hardware and software systems.
  • Provide support in acquiring facilities, hardware, software, documentation, and manpower and personnel necessary for planning and management of mission critical computer hardware and software systems.
  • Analyze and assess software technical data that defines current and future configuration baseline of the system necessary to develop safe and effective procedures for operation and maintenance of the UAS system.
  • Provide support in the development, implementation, and maintain current required logistics related statutory and regulatory program documentation, to include but not limited to the Computer Resources Life Cycle Management Plan, Lifecycle Sustainment Plan (LCSP), Cost Analysis Requirements Description (CARD), and technical manuals.
  • Provide support in the development, coordination, and implementation of contractual and other agreements necessary to manage technical interfaces, work performed by maintenance activities, and update plans for periodic test and certification activities required throughout the UAS lifecycle.
  • Analyze, assess, and provide recommendations to the Government for computer resources related activities, including but not limited to Automated Identification Technology, Electronic Data Interchange, Computer Service Level Agreements, Electromagnetic Interference, Electromagnetic Pulse, System Security and Information Assurance, and Capability Maturity Model Integration.
  • Analyze and assess hardware and software code, specifications, logic and flow diagrams, test diagrams, operating environments, Computer Software Configuration Item definitions, and technical manuals.
  • Provide support in the development, implementation, and update of mission critical computer hardware and software operation and support, development and maintenance management reports, and disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Provide support in the management of the computer resource working group, computer programs and software baselines, modifications, licenses, obsolescence, Defense Information Switch Network, and other network connectivity requirements determination and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or Science from an ABET accredited program
  • Meet DOD 8570.01-M IAT II
  • 10 years of related job experience gained after receiving the task related degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated experience working with senior level managers/engineers/scientists and work independently to accomplish assigned tasks
