About the position

Tri-State Forest Products is seeking an Engineered Wood Products Designer to join our team in Springfield, OH. This full-time position is integral to our operations, focusing on the design of residential and light commercial engineered wood floor and roof systems. As a family-owned and operated business, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality products and exceptional personal service to our customers across the Mid-West. In this role, the EWP designer will work closely with retail lumber dealers and builders to create tailored engineered wood product designs. The designer will utilize specialized software to interpret blueprints and develop structural placement estimate plans. Product training will be provided to ensure that the designer is well-equipped to meet the needs of our customers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of architecture and CAD systems, along with excellent communication skills to effectively support customers and team members alike. This position reports directly to the head of the EWP department, and the designer will be expected to engage actively with the design team, providing customer support and identifying the best products for specific job applications. We are looking for a team player with a positive attitude who is well-organized and professional in their approach to work.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the design team to create engineered wood product designs.
  • Design engineered wood products such as I-joists, wood beams, and connectors into residential and commercial blueprints.
  • Provide customer support by answering questions about personal designs and/or other team member designs.
  • Identify and recommend the best products to customers for their specific job application.
  • Utilize provided design software to interpret residential and commercial blueprints into structural placement estimate plans.
  • Respond to customer and associate inquiries as needed to sell, train, and support engineered wood products.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of architecture and/or CAD systems.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
