About the position

The Engineered Wood Products Designer at Weyerhaeuser plays a crucial role in the National Specification Team, providing design and drafting services for engineered wood products. This fully remote position focuses on creating accurate layout drawings and material lists while engaging with customers and market stakeholders to deliver innovative framing solutions. The designer will utilize proprietary software applications to support the design and specification of structural frame products, ensuring the success of both the company and its partners.

Responsibilities

• Use design tools and software applications to provide technical services for Weyerhaeuser Structural Frame products.
• Produce comprehensive framing layouts for floor, roof, and wall systems.
• Provide design calculations for single structural members.
• Offer design consultation to dealers, builders, general contractors, building inspectors, architects, engineers, sales associates, and owners.
• Deliver accurate, value-added layout drawings and material lists.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints/construction documents.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Wood framing construction background.
• Working knowledge of CAD and/or estimating applications.
• Certification in structural/architectural drafting.
• Background in Statics, Mechanics, and Materials.
• Previous Designer or Estimator experience.
