About the position

The Engineering Manager for Foundation Models Development at Netflix will lead a team of machine-learning researchers and engineers focused on developing foundational models that enhance personalization and discovery for Netflix's content. This role involves guiding innovation projects from research to production, fostering an inclusive team culture, and aligning the team's vision with Netflix's mission.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of talented machine-learning researchers and engineers.
• Develop foundational models for applications such as Search, Recommendations, and Personalization.
• Cultivate a vision and strategy for the team aligned with Netflix's mission.
• Guide innovation projects from research ideas to production A/B tests.
• Mentor and empower team members, fostering an inclusive culture.
• Build effective research roadmaps with ambitious goals.

Requirements

• Experience leading a team of machine learning engineers and researchers.
• Strong machine learning and engineering background.
• Passion for mentoring and growing people.
• Track record of leading successful real-world applications of machine learning.
• Broad knowledge of machine learning with a strong mathematical foundation.
• Strong understanding of software engineering and large-scale distributed systems.
• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

• 10+ years of total experience including 5+ years of machine learning management.
• Expertise in Deep Learning and NLP.
• Experience working on large-scale, consumer-facing machine-learning applications.
• Publishing and reviewing at peer-reviewed conferences and journals.
