Engineering Manager, New Verticals - City Fulfillment Network

About the position

DoorDash is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the City Fulfillment Network engineering team. This team is responsible for making DoorDash even more reliable when it comes to fulfilling all the items that customers order. If it’s available in your city, we’ll find it and deliver it to you. As an Engineering Manager, you will partner closely with world class engineers, designers, product managers and operators for developing and developing highly visible features used by millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Grow a full-stack team of world class backend and client-side engineers delivering end-to-end engineering solutions
• Engage in groundbreaking projects from inception that will substantially enhance the growth of our New Verticals business - Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol & Retail
• Work closely with Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, and Operators to develop the team's roadmap and oversee its successful execution
• Provide architectural guidance and professional development for a team of 8+
• Encourage innovation, teamwork, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, and outside-of-the-box thinking
• Oversee the hiring process for your team, in partnership with recruiting, to grow a diverse and inclusive team

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in people management leading full-stack teams (backend, web, & mobile) of 9+ engineers
• 8+ years of industry experience
• Extensive experience as an engineer in a fast-paced, product-focused development environment
• Experience with distributed system design, system scaling, and performance optimization
• Hands-on leadership, strong product intuition, and deep care for the customer
• Humility - willing to get into the details and open to feedback
