About the position

The position involves supervising and assisting engineering department employees who are responsible for the development and design of custom mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems. This includes the electrical and electronic integration of components. The role requires conducting feasibility studies of customer requests, developing preliminary designs, cost and delivery estimates, and completing quotations and proposals for customers regarding technical questions and/or sales of systems or components. Additionally, the position provides technical support to project engineers, project managers, and the distribution outside sales force in establishing application and design requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and assist engineering department employees in the development and design of custom control systems.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and develop preliminary designs and cost estimates for customer requests.
  • Provide technical support to project engineers and project managers.
  • Responsible for the overall profitability of the engineering department.
  • Develop, implement, and improve business operating procedures and processes for the engineering department.
  • Coordinate activities between the engineering and fabrication departments.
  • Identify, prioritize, and assign resources for design and fabrication processes.
  • Generate engineering and fabrication labor estimates and review against actual performance.
  • Oversee new product development and review department financial and operational performance statements.
  • Assign and supervise the activities of Project Engineers and CAD operators.
  • Monitor and assist electrical and hydraulic project engineers in their duties.
  • Establish and maintain engineering design and review schedules to align with production schedules.
  • Assist in the design and manufacturing coordination of skid packages and fabricated assemblies.
  • Interview and hire new employees, handle grievances, and maintain employee relations.
  • Support the Business Management System (BMS) procedures and work instructions.
  • Act as Process Owner for defined processes, including documentation and employee training.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in engineering supervision and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems.
  • Experience in conducting feasibility studies and developing cost estimates.
  • Ability to provide technical support and guidance to engineering teams.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Business Management Systems (BMS).
  • Familiarity with CAD software and engineering design tools.
  • Background in manufacturing coordination and production scheduling.
