About the position

The Engineering Manager must be a proven results oriented individual with a professional track record in providing profitable professional services coupled with a high level of client satisfaction. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, fast paced environment. This position will combine strong leadership, personal communication, and technical skills to commission Veolia’s challenging and diverse portfolio including Hyperscale, Enterprise, and Collocation Data Centers, Central Utility Plants (CUP), and Power Generation (combined heat & power; CHP) facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior management and staff to improve and optimize core services, standards and procedures as applied to the commissioning process, resource utilization, and management.
  • Manage mechanical/electrical systems commissioning, energy and consulting of complex projects for local, national, and international clients.
  • Lead multi-disciplined teams to effectively manage projects across multiple locations.
  • Serve as single point overall technical contact coordinating directly with customers’ technical team and their contractors.
  • Prepare and review method of procedures, commissioning plans, technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and studies.
  • Diagnose and solve design and operational issues as a result of a thorough commissioning process.
  • Manage commissioning projects and project resources to a predetermined scope, fee and schedule.
  • Perform construction observations, review contract documents, develop functional test plans and execute tests for a wide variety of mechanical, and controls systems.
  • Manage projects, project teams, clients, project scopes, project budgets and project schedules.
  • Ensure complete communication and understanding of client’s requirements, expectations, and best practices.
  • Provide client with regular status reports summarizing technical activities, schedule performance, risks, budget status, and forecasts.
  • Ensure clear definition and swift closeout of project punch-list items.
  • Review project budgets to ensure they adequately cover design and scope of supply requirements.
  • Identify new clients, new opportunities, maintain existing client relationships, and general marketing new related opportunities.
  • Participate in pre-award and contract negotiation presentations and meetings.
  • Coordinate internal resource scheduling.
  • Review expense reports & time sheets (Direct Reports).
  • Conduct annual performance reviews (Direct Reports).
  • Comply with and uphold safety in the workplace guidelines and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 10-15 years of practical experience in the implementation and project management of electrical/mechanical/controls commissioning of critical building systems; OR Minimum of 15 years of experience as commissioning agent with proven practical experience in the implementation and project management of electrical/mechanical/controls commissioning of critical building systems.
  • Demonstrate above average people and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrate superior time management and ability to work under the pressures of schedule demands.
  • Ability to be resourceful, and find solutions to fast paced complex problems.
  • Able to think technically about Mission Critical systems and verbalize for a less technical audience.
  • Able to drive project expectations to conclusion be fiscally conscious of project budget.
  • Be a role model of composure for direct reports under difficult client projects.
  • Be a mentor for direct reports (if any) and subject matter expert for direct report growth.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products is a must.

  • Knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards, such as ASHRAE and LEED.
  • Knowledge, application and implementation of electrical/mechanical test instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with NETA Electrical Acceptance Testing guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of Life Safety systems.
  • EIT, PE, CEM, DCEP, LEED, CEM credentials.
  • BCxP, CBCP, CCP & PMP credentials.
