About The Position

This position provides document management support for Substation and Transmission Engineering. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Engineering Support, track documents and assist engineers through various stages of design and complete AutoCAD revisions as necessary. Documents include internal drawings, external vendor files, equipment test reports, engineering calculations and supporting documents. Liaison between work groups including Substation Protection & Control, Substation Physical Design, Transmission Line, Distribution, and field personnel who construct or maintain company facilities. Under minimal direction, gather technical information and up-to-date drawings necessary for various projects. The Lead will engage the local team to develop solutions, refine processes and write detailed procedures while providing direct technical support for the team and our customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field
  • Three or more years of experience in Autodesk products, Power System design and document management
  • Extensive knowledge of Electric Power systems including Substation and/or Transmission facilities and company standards
  • Excellent customer service and public relations skills
  • Strong math, planning, organizing, prioritizing and team building skills
  • High proficiency in MS office suite and applicable engineering software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to handle stressful situations appropriately
  • Effective project management skills
  • Familiarity with database and Autodesk products

Responsibilities

  • Seek enhancements to methods and systems for sharing information such as the status of issued for construction packages, updates to one-line drawings, notifications to stakeholders and reminders to Field Drawing Stewards that serve to improve the collection of as-built drawings after construction
  • Liaison with consultants and contractors to coordinate their assistance on projects
  • Support the implementation and development of 3D models
  • Develop an understanding of Document Management system licensing and access requirements
  • Provide document management training to relay techs, engineers and contractors
  • Create and update complex Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages
  • Create new IFC items with linked documents in Vault and create URLs in SharePoint
  • Digitize paper redline drawings to integrate and promptly publish the as-built changes
  • Create, refine and update document management procedures in SharePoint
  • Develop design for new or retrofit panel layouts for P&C and physical design projects
  • Generate drawings based on one-line and substation standards drawings
  • Perform on-site substation verification of field drawings and digital drawings in Vault
  • Improve the collection of as-built drawings after construction
