About the position

The Engineering Technician 3 - Graveyard position at Lam Research involves preparing Cross Section SEM (XSEM) samples and imaging them using advanced SEM tools. This role is crucial in supporting process engineers and requires a high level of manual dexterity and attention to detail. Technicians may also have opportunities to learn additional techniques in semiconductor analysis, contributing to the company's innovative solutions in the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Cross Section SEM (XSEM) samples using cleaving or microcleaving techniques.
• Image samples using FEI/Thermo Fisher SEM tools to meet the needs of process engineers.
• Learn additional techniques such as Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM), FIB-SEM cross sectioning, and Electron Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS/EDX) as part of career development.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a physical science or similar technical field.
• Excellent manual dexterity and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work a night shift schedule.

Nice-to-haves

• Work experience operating SEM tools or optical microscopes.
• Work experience cleaving silicon wafers.
• Knowledge of the physics involved with FIB/SEM tools, such as vacuum systems, voltage/current effects, and ion sputtering behavior.
• Familiarity with key developments and materials in the semiconductor industry.
• Experience in customer IP protection.
