About the position

The Engineering Technician position in the crash test dummy laboratory focuses on maintaining, preparing, and qualifying crash test dummies for testing. This role involves providing technical support to engineers on various research programs, equipment design, test development, and testing activities, ensuring the effective operation of the lab and contributing to the development of new crash test dummies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, repair, and troubleshoot crash test dummies
• Prepare and conduct ATD pre-crash qualification tests
• Calibrate and repair instrumentation
• Assemble or install equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting
• Organize and document test reports and activity logs accurately
• Ensure calibration records are organized and stored properly
• Set up, monitor, operate, and maintain test equipment
• Provide technical support to project teams
• Work collaboratively with other technicians to meet laboratory objectives
• Conduct a variety of tests, prepares test specimens, adjusts and operates equipment, and records test data
• Extract engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources; processes and presents data
• Assist with the preparation of presentations and reports
• Support the development of proposals and research program plans
• Coordinate project schedule changes and scope of work with project teams
• Monitor and control the progress and quality of assigned projects
• Follow safety procedures; wear protective equipment including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes
• Support TRC Inc.s Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts

Requirements

• High school diploma is required
• Associates degree in a technology discipline is preferred
• 5 years related experience preferred
• Valid driver's license
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Practical knowledge and experience of electronics applications
• Practical knowledge of physics and engineering
• Proficient in the use of test equipment and/or tools and machinery
• Basic scripting knowledge preferred (VBscript)
