About the position

The Engineering Technician II position at the State of New Mexico is responsible for ensuring compliance with various specifications and regulations related to highway and bridge construction. This role involves overseeing contractors' work, conducting field inspections, and maintaining accurate project documentation to ensure adherence to state and federal standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee contractors' work including highway construction field inspections.
• Ensure compliance with NM Department of Transportation (NMDOT) Specifications and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) regulations.
• Conduct field sampling and testing as needed throughout the District.
• Maintain accurate and updated documents for Department procedures and project compliance.
• Document project personnel daily reports and quantities in AP Construction on a daily basis.
• Complete pertinent field reports and testing forms as required by the Department.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Two years of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Technician Training Certification Program (TTCP) certificates within one year of hire, including Nuclear Densometer, Concrete Field and Lab Testing, Aggregate, Soils, Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), Traffic Control and SWPPP.
