About The Position

The Senior Project Engineering Technician will serve in the Project/Process Division of the Engineering Department at SUPSHIP, responsible for overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of technical functions related to naval engineering projects. This role involves advising on technical work, coordinating document reviews, and representing the Chief Engineer in various technical and programmatic meetings.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-12 level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
• Experience providing technical engineering guidance or contractor oversight for aircraft carriers or submarines.

• Experience in project management within the naval engineering field.

Responsibilities

• Provide government oversight of design, construction, and maintenance for naval engineering projects.
• Advise, review, and approve technical work of significant nature.
• Coordinate the review and approval of technical documents within delegated authority.
• Participate in efforts to streamline workflow and design/review approval processes.
• Act as the central point of contact for technical support of assigned programs/hulls.
• Represent the Chief Engineer in technical and programmatic conferences and meetings.
• Review and evaluate requests for departures from contract requirements.
• Resolve significant problems while maintaining government technical standards.
