About the position

The Enterprise Data Center Engineer role at ALTA IT Services is a contract-to-hire position focused on providing advanced engineering services for Cisco infrastructure in a remote setting. The engineer will work closely with customer teams to manage and secure the Cisco inventory, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and support the development of operational procedures. This position requires expertise in designing and implementing networking systems across various environments, with a strong emphasis on automation and modern DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with customer teams to provide advanced engineering services in both test and real-world environments.
  • Perform complex technical tasks and solve issues related to the customer's enterprise Cisco infrastructure.
  • Support the management, functionality, and security of the customer's Cisco inventory.
  • Participate in discussions with customer stakeholders regarding software strategy and support documentation.
  • Engineer, design, implement, and troubleshoot networking systems across customer-owned and leased spaces.
  • Lead implementations with multiple customer teams to achieve mission goals.
  • Assist with high-level and low-level design documentation.
  • Work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Requirements

  • Expertise with Cisco Datacenter Nexus switching, dashboard, fabric controller, insights, and data broker.
  • Expertise with Cisco Routers, Palo Alto Firewalls, and F5 Network load balancers.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise-level large, multi-site, multi-vendor Datacenters.
  • Expertise in automation of networking and server installation, vulnerability remediation, and configuration updates.
  • Experience with engineering and migrating to Virtual eXtensible Local-Area Network and IPv6.
  • Demonstrated success using modern DevOps methods and tools, including automated testing and monitoring tools.
  • Ability to drive frequent release cycles (daily/weekly).
  • Current Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Datacenter Certification.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience as a datacenter engineer across multiple locations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Existing Public Trust Security Clearance is preferred.
  • Local proximity to Austin, TX or Cleveland, OH for periodic on-site work.
