About the position

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in a variety of projects with a focus on casualty accumulation, catastrophe modeling, and emerging risks. The candidate is expected to demonstrate expertise in handling both quantitative and qualitative information. The candidate will have opportunities to lead discussions on key risk topics with C-suites of our business units as well as senior executives from other corporation functions. An actuarial credential is preferred but NOT required for the role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and optimization of the casualty data ETL process
  • Analyze and visualize casualty accumulations by insureds, lines and industries to present valuable insight to senior executives
  • Develop casualty catastrophe scenarios by studying historical events and emerging risks
  • Model complex casualty reinsurance protections
  • Conduct research on emerging risks, including artificial intelligence and climate change, quantify their impact on property and casualty insurance products and present the results to senior executives
  • Assist with monitoring of all other 'known-unknown' risks
  • Lead automation of key risk processes
  • Implement and maintain the risk assessment processes across our domestic and international business units
  • Contribute to ERM reporting routines, including presentations to ERM Committee and C-suites of our business units as well as deliverables to rating agencies and regulators
  • Assist with coaching of junior team members

Requirements

  • Proficiency in R/Python and Excel
  • Excellence in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to stay organized and multi-task
  • Ability to independently perform research on a wide variety of risk topics
  • Knowledge of casualty lines of business (e.g., general liability; professional lines)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • ACAS
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in STEM
