About The Position

S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate entry-level Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our Construction Services team in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you'll primarily work outdoors, contributing to projects and ensuring their safety and quality. Your efforts will be rewarded as you see projects come to life and gain valuable experience.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma/GED
  • 0-2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
  • Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure

Nice To Haves

  • One(1) or more active certifications, a plus: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
  • International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
  • DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete

Responsibilities

  • Understand project requirements before fieldwork; accurately record observations and test results related to construction materials.
  • Efficiently manage data using field and laboratory information systems.
  • Ensure field and lab tools are accurate and meet industry standards.
  • Follow International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials.
  • Engage with management, contractors, and clients to report project progress and address any concerns.
