About the position

The Transient Analysis Engineer at Westinghouse is responsible for performing design basis safety analysis for nuclear reactors, focusing on non-Loss of Coolant Accidents (non-LOCA) transients. This role involves developing models for two-phase flow and heat transfer phenomena, conducting safety evaluations, and serving as a point of contact for plant-specific inquiries. The engineer will work collaboratively on project teams and communicate project statuses effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design basis safety analysis for nuclear reactors, particularly for non-LOCA transients.
  • Develop and assess models and correlations for predicting two-phase flow and heat transfer phenomena.
  • Conduct nuclear reactor safety analysis and develop methodologies for design basis accidents.
  • Perform reload safety evaluations for each plant cycle.
  • Understand plant-specific licensing basis and analyses of record.
  • Act as the point of contact for plant-specific non-LOCA or containment analysis inquiries from internal and external customers.
  • Evaluate impacts of plant modifications and operating changes on design analysis.
  • Participate on project teams and communicate project status to the responsible project manager.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering required (Recent Graduates encouraged to apply).
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles.
  • Concise and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently establish and implement personal goals and action plans.
  • Ability to work seamlessly with remote teams through various communication styles (email, phone, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
  • Interest in software programming and code development is considered a benefit.
