Entry-Level Structural Inspection Engineer (43729)

Collins Engineers, Inc. is a mid-size, growing, multi-disciplined civil engineering and professional services firm that prioritizes its people and culture. As an Entry Level-Structural Inspection Engineer in the Fairfax, VA office, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting and unique projects, primarily focusing on transportation structures and waterfront facilities. This position offers a mix of office and fieldwork, with some travel required, and emphasizes professional growth and development through coaching by seasoned engineers and participation in professional societies.

Responsibilities

• Perform design and inspection/field work that does not require previous experience.
• Assist in the completion of inspection and assessment reports.
• Prepare design computations and quantity estimates.
• Keep Project Managers informed of workload and any changes to project scope or additional services.
• Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare calculation packages and design drawings.
• Be active in technical societies.
• Attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
• Communicate with clients as needed.
• Instruct draftspersons / technicians on design drawings, data entry, and report preparation.
• Observe and act in an appropriate manner related to safety.
• Field work required, which could include nights and weekends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university.
• 0-4 years of experience.
• Previous experience using Autocad and Microstation is a plus.
• Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) or ability to obtain within one year.
• A valid driver's license.
