About the position

The Environmental Protection Compliance Specialist position at the Department of Environmental Protection involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations to protect the health and safety of Pennsylvania's citizens and environment. The role requires a strong understanding of various environmental issues, including erosion control, stormwater management, and wetland regulations, along with the ability to conduct inspections and enforce compliance actions.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and resolve compliance and enforcement actions within the region.
  • Evaluate evidence and analyze the legal dimensions of cases.
  • Coordinate follow-up investigations and monitoring activities.
  • Conduct on-site inspections as required.
  • Provide testimony in court when necessary.

Requirements

  • One year of professional experience as a Sanitarian, Air Quality Specialist, Solid Waste Specialist, or Water Quality Specialist.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.
