Environmental Scientist / Geologist

About the position

Tetra Tech is seeking a full-time Geologist or Environmental Scientist for its Helena, MT operations. This role involves providing environmental field support and document preparation for various environmental projects, including underground storage tank cleanup and site assessments. The position requires sampling various media and developing technical reports based on environmental investigations.

Responsibilities

• Provide field and document preparation support on environmental projects.
• Conduct sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, air, building materials, and wastes.
• Develop technical reports based on findings from environmental investigations.
• Interface directly with clients and the public.
• Perform geologic assessments and remediation projects.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a related field.
• BS in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Soils or Geosciences is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
• Exposure to or experience with GIS programs (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.) is required.
• Strong note-taking abilities and technical writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with geologic assessments and remediation projects.
• Field investigation experience including geologic well logging and monitor well development.
• Proficiency in Scribe, GIS, and Surfer or other modeling software.
• Field equipment troubleshooting experience.
