About the position

The position involves providing instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. The role includes preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities to support student learning. The instructional aide will work closely with students, helping them with their educational needs and ensuring a conducive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.
• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
• Make the teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Some experience working with children
