About the position

The Executive Director of Master Data - Finance at Baylor College of Medicine is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the institutional master data functions and implementing technological process improvements. This position is crucial for managing the master data specifically related to financial transactions, ensuring that data governance and quality are maintained at the highest standards. The Executive Director will lead a centralized team that handles complex master data management tasks, including governance, processes, and quality assurance. This role is not only about management but also involves strategic leadership, where the Executive Director will create and operationalize long-term service level agreements (SLAs) and metrics for master data governance within the institution. In addition to managing the team, the Executive Director will facilitate the creation of data strategies that integrate across various systems feeding financial transactions. This includes advising and consulting with finance leaders and the centralized team of professionals, ensuring that all financial projects align with the institution's goals. The Executive Director will also be responsible for fostering collaborative relationships with senior leadership and departments, acting as the principal spokesperson for master data governance from the finance perspective. The role requires a hands-on approach to coaching and delegating tasks to lower-level professionals, particularly within the Financial Planning and Analysis group, while also being open to performing other job-related duties as assigned. This position is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, reflecting the importance of the role in driving financial data excellence within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and directly oversees the centralized teams responsible for master data management, governance, processes, and quality.
  • Facilitates creation of data strategies and systems that feed financial transactions.
  • Advises and consults with the centralized team of professionals and Finance leaders.
  • Serves on Finance project management teams.
  • Provides strategic leadership and operationalizes master data governance service level agreements (SLAs) and metrics.
  • Creates collaborative working relationships with senior leadership and departments.
  • Acts as the principal spokesperson from Finance for master data governance.
  • Leads related financial projects.
  • Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower level professionals, including the Financial Planning and Analysis group.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Fifteen years of directly related experience with five years of supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree and eleven years of directly related experience with five years of supervisory experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in healthcare, non-profit, and/or academia.
  • SAP S/4 HANA experience.
  • Power BI experience.
  • Data Warehouse experience.
