About the position

The Executive Director of the Gordon County Child Advocacy Center and Sexual Assault Center is responsible for implementing the organization's mission and policies. This role involves overseeing personnel management, financial stability, and case management for child abuse and sexual assault cases. The director will also assist families during forensic interviews and medical processes, ensuring a supportive environment for victims and their caregivers.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, and train staff and quality volunteers.
  • Supervise direct reports and oversee staff.
  • Conduct annual evaluations of direct reports and provide written performance evaluations.
  • Provide leadership, management, vision, and best practice methods to ensure the mission and core values of the program are practiced.
  • Oversee the financial stability of the organization by maintaining government funding sources and private funding relationships.
  • Maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including members of the CAC/SAC's Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Ensure that the center has policies and procedures in place to meet state standards and best practices.
  • Maintain full membership with Children's Advocacy Centers of Georgia.
  • Serve as system administrator for Collaborate and Caseworthy to ensure accurate information regarding child and adult victims is provided to involved agencies.
  • Provide funder reports as necessary.
  • Coordinate the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings in Gordon County.
  • Coordinate forensic interview referrals and forensic medical referrals on a 24/7 basis on an on-call rotation.
  • Greet victims and families, orient them to the waiting room, and ensure their needs are met while at the center.
  • Provide immediate crisis counseling to victims and/or non-offending caregivers.
  • Act as an advocate to child victims and their non-offending caregivers and adult sexual assault victims.
  • Provide crisis intervention, individual support, and follow-up calls for support.
  • Aid in referrals for clients to trauma-informed services.
  • Provide accompaniment to forensic medical exams as needed.
  • Aid the victim and/or non-offending caregiver in understanding victim's rights and the criminal justice process.
  • Provide assistance with knowledge of Victim's Compensation.
  • Provide victims with measures of safety, if needed.
  • Ensure that data is entered into Collaborate and Caseworthy on an ongoing basis.
  • Conduct recorded forensic interviews and evaluations of children alleged to be victims of abuse as needed.
  • Provide testimony in pertinent court proceedings.
  • Attend monthly peer review.
  • Coordinate annual Summer Camp for sexually abused children.
  • Coordinate non-traditional therapy groups for victims.
  • Facilitate non-offending caregiver support group.
  • Facilitate adult survivors of sexual assault support group.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding clients and services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the human services field required.
  • Minimum of five years of work experience in a related field required.
  • Management skills necessary to conduct financial, personnel, and administrative duties of a social service agency.
  • Strong skills in leadership, public speaking, computers and record management, and oral and written communication required.
  • Competent to create and recommend policies, goals, and objectives to the Board of Directors.
  • Highly organized individual who can perform duties in an efficient and methodical manner.
  • Demonstrates ability to act in a professional manner at all times as a representative of the agency.
  • Possesses above average interpersonal skills to relate positively to clients, the Board of Directors, partner agencies, contractors, staff, and the general public.
  • Understanding of the specific developmental and welfare needs of children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the effects of abuse on both children and adults.
  • Desire to improve the quality of life for victims of crime.
  • Must be emotionally prepared to interact with sexual assault victims, child abuse victims, and their families in a professionally compassionate manner.
  • Criminal background check required.
  • Must pass drug screen.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working specifically with child victims of abuse or adult victims of sexual assault.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Previous grant writing experience.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
