About the position

The Executive Underwriter position at The Hartford involves providing specialized underwriting, insurance coverage, and risk management services within the Energy practice. This role is integral to the team's efforts in supporting profitable growth by collaborating on new and renewal business production underwriting, servicing accounts, and implementing sales and marketing activities. Responsibilities

• Provide specialized underwriting and insurance coverage for the Energy practice.
• Collaborate with team members to complete new and renewal business production underwriting.
• Service accounts and identify key energy agents/brokers.
• Implement sales and marketing activities to support business growth.
• Demonstrate a strong customer focus and understanding of The Hartford's energy practice's appetite and strategy.

Requirements

• 5+ years of P&C Middle Market Carrier Underwriting experience, preferably in the energy sector.
• College degree, industry designation, or equivalent business experience.
• Experience with oil & gas, renewable energy (wind/solar), or surface mining risks is a plus.
• Experience with large, loss-sensitive accounts and program structures is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong negotiation skills and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Energy underwriting experience related to oil & gas or renewable energy sectors.
• Ability to travel within the territory.
