About The Position

As an Experienced Certified Wound Care Nurse, you will provide independent care for unit-specific patient populations, serve as a clinical resource, and lead initiatives to advance evidence-based practices. This role requires effective leadership, coaching, and accountability for patient care processes and outcomes, while also mentoring and developing nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Maryland or eligibility to practice due to Compact state agreements.
  • BSN or Conferred BSN degree required as of July 1, 2013.
  • Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) certification.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Relevant clinical work experience related to unit practice.
  • Maintenance of 20 contact hours of education every two years.
  • Membership in a professional organization.

  • Current and active specialty certification.
  • Current matriculation or completion of a degree or certificate program within the past 24 months.
  • Formal teaching experience within the past 24 months.
  • Membership in a professional association board or committee within the past 24 months.
  • Active participation as a peer reviewer for a professional journal.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent care for the unit-specific patient population.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and integrate evidence into practice.
  • Accountable to patients and families for care processes and outcomes.
  • Lead efforts to address Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators (NSQI) improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate action plans for performance improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor patient and unit safety standards and contribute to improvement plans.
  • Coach CNI and CNIIs on performance improvement and evidence-based practice.
  • Lead regulatory activities within the unit/division or organization.
  • Perform charge role as scheduled and coach new charge nurses.
  • Oversee unit orientation program and plan clinical experiences for orientation.
  • Mentor and coach other nurses to advance their development.
  • Engage in advancing own practice and serve as a role model for others.
