About the position

Southaven Honda is seeking an experienced Accounting Office Clerk to join our team. This full-time position is ideal for someone who is familiar with all elements of an accounting office, particularly within an automotive dealership setting. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately processed and that all title work is completed in a timely manner. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying that funds have been collected and that the correct lienholder has been paid off before processing title applications. You will prepare payoff checks for new vehicles and trade-ins, and maintain a comprehensive list of all outstanding title work. Additionally, you will report to management on the status of any missing or problematic titles and provide a current list of outstanding titles to the comptroller at the end of each month. You will also sign over titles for all wholesalers who have paid in full and prepare monthly reports regarding any funds not collected from wholesalers due to missing or incomplete title work. Your responsibilities will also include posting vehicle sales and purchases, processing and registering all vehicle warranties and extended service contracts, and maintaining a log of all contracts processed and mailed. You will conduct periodic training sessions for F&I managers and sales personnel regarding title regulations and procedures, and issue written memos to managers and sales personnel whenever regulations change. You will be expected to deposit and post transactions to the Dealer Management System (DMS) using DealerTrack, access computer files, and compile reports as requested. Maintaining a professional appearance and a neat work area is essential, along with performing other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and routine reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with automotive dealership accounting practices.
  • Experience with DealerTrack or similar DMS software.
