About the position

The Experienced Electrical Engineer position at Siemens focuses on the design and configuration of electrical power distribution products, specifically within the AIS (Air Insulated Switchgear) UIC (Utility, Industrial and Construction) department. This role involves collaborating with project engineers and manufacturing teams to develop solutions that meet customer expectations while ensuring efficient and timely delivery. The position can be hybrid or fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze MV switchgear requirements from customers to develop detailed design engineering essential for review and manufacture of switchgears.
  • Prepare electrical drawing packages for factory manufacturing of the switchgear and customer documentation using CAD software.
  • Collaborate with project engineers to develop product solutions that meet customer expectations in a cost-effective and timely manner.
  • Work directly with the manufacturing teams addressing any challenges as they produce your designs.
  • Initiate and support product and process improvements by cross-functional team collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in the design and configuration of electrical power distribution products and systems
  • Proven understanding of standard protection and control technologies used in medium voltage power distribution products
  • Ability to analyze technical specifications and apply appropriate product solutions to meet customer expectations efficiently and timely
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding one-line diagrams and evaluating electrical schematics to identify errors or potential improvements
  • Ability to multitask and manage full workloads and business demands
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%, as needed
  • Must currently reside within the United States

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience with a concentration in power systems
  • Proficiency in creating, converting, and modifying drawings using AutoCAD Electrical or Engineering Base software
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, and NEMA standards for MV switchgear
  • Experience in electrical design for MV switchgear
  • Experience with Siemens switchgear
