About the position

At BAE Systems, you will be part of a team that works on the world's most advanced electronics, contributing to projects that range from saving emissions in urban environments to powering the Mars Rover and ensuring the safety of the F-35 fighter jet. Our Operations employees play a crucial role in transforming innovative engineering designs into real solutions that meet our customers' needs. This position is within the Electronic Systems division, where you will have the opportunity to work with technology that is often not available in other manufacturing firms. We pride ourselves on our flexible work environment, which allows you to balance your professional responsibilities with your personal life. Our mission is clear: "We Protect Those Who Protect Us" and "We Innovate For Those Who Move The World." In this role, you will support internal customers by designing, implementing, and managing lab infrastructure to meet specific requirements. Your responsibilities will include building, configuring, administering, and troubleshooting Linux servers and user workstation hardware and software. You will also design and implement workgroup-scale networks and manage authentication, file-share, and collaboration servers to support various client systems. Working closely with facilities security staff, you will develop and apply hardening steps for systems used in classified environments, adhering to NISPOM Chapter 8, JAFAN, and other customer standards. Documentation of system configurations for both new and existing systems will be a key part of your role. You will be expected to proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to ensure a 24x7x365 uptime service. This includes engineering systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs, maintaining best practices across all environments, and performing fault finding and analysis of logging information to report performance exceptions. Additionally, you will monitor system performance, manage software upgrades, and create scripts or applications to automate tasks. Collaboration with other teams will be essential to develop automation strategies and deployment processes. This role may require occasional off-hours responses to outages and participation in service restoration efforts. A CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent) is required for work in some customer labs, and preference will be given to candidates who hold this certification.
